Built around a collection passed down from one of the last superintendents of Launceston Gaol, Charles Willes, and held at Armitage Auctions, items ranging from John Glover paintings to broad-arrow stamped bibles will be included.
The auction is the first held at the site on a Saturday in almost 10 year, said auctioneer Neil O'Brien.

"That's how highly we rate the collection," he said.
"There are a lot of pistols and stories about items that might have belonged to Martin Cash or another bushranger, but this has got such an ironclad provenance that we are happy to say that."
According to Mr O'Brien, Mr Willes collected and recorded a number of items during his time as superintendent.
"The pistol ... was in Martin Cash's possession when he passed away in 1877 in Glenorchy," he said.
The collection is open for viewing Friday, with the auction to begin at 10am Saturday.
