Launceston-based juniors Zac Holloway, Zac Richards, Zack Matthews, Xavier Vogelaar, Gene Spotswood, Connor Russell and Vinton Hanson have been training together for eight weeks at the St Patrick's College gym ahead of next week's national schools championships.

The championships will see the team play a series of matches in Brisbane between Tuesday and Thurday, with the finals series and presentations to follow on Friday.

Coach Brook Noble said while his side's training program wasn't as rigorous as other states, the boys were hungry to play.

"What we've been doing is we train here once a week and through Futsal Tasmania there's an academy so they all train through the academy as well and we've been doing that for eight weeks," Noble said.

"In Victoria and New South Wales they do this every 12 months of the year sort of thing, so it'll be a challenge for our boys, but the sport in Tasmania futsal is growing rapidly and worldwide it's getting really really big."

The trip presents a dream opportunity for the players both during and following the tournament.

"Basically finals will be on Friday in the morning and after that everybody gets together at Dreamworld," Noble said.

"That's been basically booked out, so they have presentations there for all the kids and then it's cut loose.

"That's their end of the competition farewell and the following day we're back home to reality."
