A shed fire that was found to be deliberately lit at a residential property in Mayfield on Thursday night has caused about $30,000 worth of damage.

Fire crews from Rocherlea and Launceston were called to a house on Gregory Street at 8.40pm after multiple Triple Zero calls.
It took 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The shed, carport and back wall of the house sustained damage worth about $30,000.
In a statement, the Tasmanian Fire Service said the fire was deliberately lit.
"TFS has determined the cause as deliberate and police will be investigating the incident," the statement reads.
