Justin Nilon and Connor Sheppard will fly out to Brisbane on Tuesday morning to join up with their Australian teammates ahead of the INAS Global Games - the world's top sporting event for athletes with an intellectual disability.

Already a two-time national representative, Nilon is most excited by getting to experience the Australia-England rivalry with a good mate by his side.

"I've played cricket with Connor at South Launny probably for four or five years, and I've kind of taken him under my wing and told him about the whole inclusion sports and all that," the 23-year-old leg-spinner said.

"A couple of years later we're off to play for Australia together - it's a bit of a surreal feeling but he'll do well.

"Connor's come a long way from five years ago when he was a timid young fella and now he's embarking on an Australian cricket journey so it's just an amazing story and it just proves that cricket is a sport for all people.

"It also proves ability over disability - yes you've got a disability, but you've also got the ability to do amazing things in your life such as play cricket for Australia or England or whatever."

The two Knights won selection in Cricket Australia's ID high performance program following stellar performances in January's national inclusion championships.

A national training camp followed in March and thanks to a six-week block of training with coaches Andy Gower and Liam Devlin and the ongoing support of ICON sports, the pair are ready to roll.

Nineteen-year-old Sheppard said it was a dream to have been selected for national duty.

"I'm very excited and happy to be in the squad," the all-rounder said.

"The form I've got right now is that my bowling is in good touch and my batting form is also pretty good.

"England is a top-quality squad but we've got the home ground advantage."

The INAS Games will take place at venues around Brisbane between October 12 and 19.
