North Esk's Jack Barrett has joined the crop of Tasmanian rowers hoping to make the Australian team ahead of next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.

Barrett joins Ciona Wilson (Tamar) and Georgia Nesbitt (Huon) to have received invitations from Rowing Australia to the National Training Centre testing camps being held from September 30.
Those successful will then begin training for the 2020 Australian rowing team.

Huon's Sarah Hawe was automatically invited back to the NTC after helping the Australian women's four reclaim its world title at the world championships in Austria earlier this month.
Nesbitt also competed in the women's lightweight women's double scull in Linz where Wilson was a reserve for the women's eight.
Athletics
The early hours of Saturday morning will witness the beginning of Stewart McSweyn's athletics world championship campaign.
The sole Tasmanian in the Australian team competing in Qatar, McSweyn is taking on two events on the Doha track.
The 24-year-old King Islander has shifted his focus to a 1500-metres and 5000m double having competed in the 5000 and 10,000m at last year's Commonwealth Games.
Heats for the 5000m will begin at 7.45pm on Friday evening which is 2.45am (Tastime) on Saturday.
If Launceston-born McSweyn qualifies, the 5000m final will be at 9.20pm on Monday evening which is 4.20am on Tuesday (Tastime).
He will then enjoy a three-day break before the 1500m heats from 5am on Friday, October 4 (Tastime) with the semi-finals the following day at 3.05am and the final on Monday, October 7 at 2.40am.
McSweyn's 1500m personal best time of 3:31.81 was set at the Monaco Diamond League meet in July.
Canoeing
Derwent's Daniel Watkins will have his sights set on Tokyo when he competes in Spain this week.
The 23-year-old will double up in the men's K1 and C1 events at the world canoe slalom championships in La Seu - venue for the canoe slalom at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
The event is the first canoe slalom Olympic qualification event.
