Less than a fortnight after establishing a new under-13 benchmark at the Northern Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools athletics carnival, Colgrave was back at St Leonards Athletics Centre to repeat the feat at the state titles.
He became the first 13-year-old to break 14 seconds for the 90-metre hurdles, clocking 13.91 to eclipse the existing record of 14.22.
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT:
Torrential rain prompted a premature end to the carnival, but not before two other records had been broken.
Joshua Hwaba, 16, of The Friends School, recorded a distance of 13.68m in the under-16 boys' triple jump to beat the old record of 13.55m.
And Darcy Noonan, 13, of St Virgil's College, extended the under-13 boys' 600-gram javelin record out to 38.33m (previous record: 37.85m).
There were no pennants or shields presented due to the unfinished program.
