One of North Launceston's most consistent performers through the season, the 24-year-old trained throughout the week to dispense with thoughts of a reshuffle which would likely have seen Bart McCulloch shifted out of the forward line.
Coach Taylor Whitford said his side would have managed even if the ex-Devonport tall had been sidelined.
FINALS FEVER
"He's had the week on the track so he's fine, he's right to go," Whitford said.
"We were confident in what Alex would do and we were confident he'd be right to go.
"We've played Bart and Jackson Callow in the ruck in the semi anyway so realistically we were probably prepared for that if it did happen anyway.
"With the group that we've got we are very settled but we do have that flexibility within our side to change things if things aren't working, whether that's Tom Donnelly forward or to a wing, Ben Simpson back or James Curran, so we do have that flexibility if we need it."
Curran's inclusion for injured defender Braden van Buuren (elbow) marked the Northern Bombers only change since last meeting Lauderdale, with the 18-year-old poised to play his first senior final on the biggest stage of all.
Some rain is expected at Bellerive on Saturday but Whitford said the addition of another small had little to do with the forecast.
"We picked the best player we had available," the reigning premiership coach said.
"James unfortunately missed out on the semi, went back and was best on ground for our development league.
"I guess the thing James brings is flexibility - he's played back this year, he can play through the mid and he can play forward.
"So it's not like-for-like as Braden can play a bit taller, but we think we've got enough defenders to cover that."
Whitford will also be keeping a close eye on the morning's development league grand final, where a dozen players with senior experience will be lining up for North Launceston.
The Northern Bombers have now made both grand finals two years in a row, and appear a fair chance of winning their first division double of the new-look TSL.
"It probably just prepares us for the future," Whitford said of the club's success.
"It prepares these younger guys in the development league side to be prepared for finals and grand finals in senior football in the coming years and it creates a good vibe - you've got 72 players at training rather than just the 22 senior guys."
