That challenge has been met so successfully by the Westbury family they have since put it to their friends on social media - and hope many more might take it up as well.
It is also a task which has won the Poultons recognition at the annual Waste NoT Awards on Wednesday, an initiative of the Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group.
Nine projects across the region were awarded at the event, with other winners including Party in the Paddock organisers Vibestown Productions and the Launceston Harvest Markets.

"The challenge is really something that could be taken up by everybody," said Kent Poulton. Even the bread bag is only half full for family most weeks now.
"It's about becoming aware of the waste the you create," Mr Poulton added. "If you set yourself the challenge, then you make the effort - and that is really the only thing we did."
