The 21-year-old was initially offered a offered a two-match ban, reduced to one week with an early guilty plea, after a high-contact intentional strike on Launceston's Ben Killalea.
McGuinness challenged the ban, arguing that the strike was of insufficient force to warrant a report, and was consequently freed to play in Saturday's TSL decider against North Launceston.
The incident marked McGuinness' third referral to the tribunal this season, with a round 12 high-contact incident on Glenorchy's Matt Dilger thrown out and a careless, high-contact hit on Clarence's Keegan Wylie in round 18 reduced to a reprimand thanks to an early guilty plea.
