The all-abilities carousel at Royal Park was $50,000 well spent, Just Like Jack's Erin Duffy said at its official opening on Sunday.

The group has been fundraising to purchase the piece of play equipment - the first of its kind in Tasmania - for more than two years.
The inspiration behind the drive was Erin's son Jack, who has severe cerebral palsy spastic paraplegia.

"We got a photo of Jack on it, last week, and it was the biggest, most genuine smile I've seen on him in a long time," she said.
One of the key benefits of the carousel, she said, was that people with a disability and able-bodied people could ride it together.
"We came down here the other day and there was a school group here, and their teachers said they had been on it for an hour and a half," she laughed.
