Cancer Council Tasmania is working with WorkSafe Tasmania with the aim to focus on workplace safety and protection.
SunSmart project officer Ella French said September marked the beginning of SunSmart season in Tasmania.
"We just really wanted in particular to reinforce the importance of people using sun protection, especially when the UV is three or above," she said.
"For outdoor workers, we really need them to be using sun protection all year round."
Cancer Council chief executive Penny Egan said Australia had one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with at least two in three people diagnosed by 70 years of age.

"The majority of skin cancers are caused by overexposure to UV from the sun. Every year, it is estimated that over 200 melanomas and 34,000 other skin cancer are caused by UV exposure in the workplace," she said.
Ms Egan said though sun protection was required when the UV was above three, for outdoor workers it was recommended they use sun protection year-round.
WorkSafe Tasmania chief executive Mark Cocker said workers should be safe at work every day.
"Exposure to UV is a risk to the health and safety of outdoor workers in Tasmania," he said.
"Workplaces and workers are encouraged to follow the advice of the Cancer Council to use sun protection all year round."
