Pipeline Dilemma
The Glamorgan Spring Bay Council seem to have created an unanticipated deficit of $600,000 for a water pipeline which was being laid from Buckland to Triabunna on behalf of Tassal, farmer irrigation, so-called "water security" for the Orford/Triabunna communities, and the Solis golf course, which the council either has acquired or is in the process of acquiring from the former developer Solis, who deemed the golf course and associated residential development to be financially unviable. The pipeline may be underwritten by Tassal, the biggest beneficiary of the pipeline, which if this is the case, has a financial obligation to contribute the outstanding amount of $600,000.

An independent inquiry, with either an appointed former Supreme Court judge or former Auditor-General (preferably from interstate) with powers to subpoena witnesses, must be instigated to investigate, with accompanying broad terms of reference to be implemented. Council decision making is in an untenable position and must be placed into administration until a full and frank investigation is conducted and fulfilled.

State Medical Situation
JUST how naive do the government think we are? They build more hospital space for more beds, but then who is going to staff them? The state's hospitals are already overflowing with administrative staff and no doctors or nurses to care for them.
The system needs a huge shake-up on the admin side and way more money for the care side or nothing will change.

Coles Parking Issue
This week I organised to take a friend out for lunch in Kings Meadows.
I said we would park in the car park there but she informed me that the Coles car park was only for those shopping at Coles and we would get booked for parking there.
As I didn't know where else to park, we decided to eat elsewhere.
The uncertainty of which areas are designated to the control of Care Park and which car park area belongs to what shops is confusing.
When I shop, I want to know that I can park my car in one place and go to many different shops, supermarket, chemist, without worrying that someone is watching me, ready to book me, if I have parked my car in the wrong spot. Needless to say, it will stop me from shopping in Kings Meadows.

Criminal Costs
IT IS refreshing to note that the government is committing only $24.5 million to coordinate the various folk involved in prisoner releases. I wonder if that is enough, particularly when compared to the cost of the planned Northern prison - $270 million for 270 prisoners. Conditions will be pretty swish in each cell at $1 million each.
This facility will likely be built in the Deloraine area.
But there was another item in the news regarding planned accommodation for people in the Deloraine Anglican parish where approval has been granted to construct eight two-bedroom townhouse-style units for $1.3 million. This translates to only $163,000 each. Should these groups be encouraged to get together and compare notes?
Perhaps some cost efficiencies could be applied to the new prison?
