CCTV footage has been released of the man who threatened staff at Kings Meadows Coles with a knife.

Launceston CIB Detective Sergeant Joe Riley said the man entered the store about 9pm on Saturday and filled a trolley with various grocery items, including meat.
He made to leave the store via a fire exit in the back, and was stopped by staff.
When staff attempted to talk to him he pulled out a curved blade and gestured in an intimidating manner.

"The workers are fine, they they did exactly what they should have done: they retreated and kept themselves safe," Detective Sergeant Riley said.
The man fled, however, he was unable to make a getaway with the groceries he entered the store to steal.
"He was unable to get the groceries away and he fled on foot without any of them," Detective Sergeant Riley said.
Police are appealing to anyone who recognises the man to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
"We're still trying to identify this person," Detective Sergeant Riley said.
"Footage of him has been obtained and we are encouraging the public to assist by calling police or Crime Stoppers."
