Connie Johnson was first diagnosed with cancer at the age of 11. On September 8, 2018, at the age of 40 it was cancer that took her life.
But what she leaves behind is a mission and a brother determined to raise awareness for early detection of breast cancer and at the same time raise much-needed funds for ongoing research.
Already Samuel Johnson helped to facilitate the fundraising of $10 million. And now he has committed to a further two-year stint around Australia to add to that total.
While spreading this message he has created a village - more like a capital city - of men and women supporting his cause, sharing their own journeys and handing over a few dollars here and there that when collated adds up to millions of dollars.
It wouldn't be easy to continue to share Connie's story without Connie.
But as Sam said: "To be doing her work on her anniversary is only fitting, so I'll be celebrating by doing exactly what she told me to do - raising funds for cancer research".
