The Magpies earned their berth in the NWFL grand final with an upset 35 point victory over the minor premiers at the Wynyard Recreation Ground.
The damage was done in the second half as the Magpies spread broke the Cats midfield apart to put on nine goals to two after the long break in the 15.8 (98) to 9.9 (63) win.
Trailing by six points at half time, Caleb van Buuren put his imprint on the game with three goals for the quarter to help the Magpies lead by 11 points.
The Cats needed a lot to go right in the final quarter, but they were held to three points.
Brad Symmons was the best on ground in the win, while van Buuren and Wyatt Kenny kicked three goals each.
Kallum Kubicki was the Cats best, while Gregg Sharman kicked four goal.
The Cats will face the winner of the first semi-final between Burnie and Ulverstone in the preliminary final.
