Those were the messages learned during a printmaking workshop held at the Launceston Library on Thursday.
The workshop was run by Launceston Library literacy coordinator Jess Panday, as part of Adult Learners Week, which wraps up on September 8.
Participants Lee Ringk, and her daughter Neve, 15, said they had come to the workshop to learn another creative outlet.
"It might turn into a hobby, but we are hoping to learn new techniques," Ms Ringk said.
In other news:
"You can Google as much as you like but that doesn't always lead to you learning a new skill."
Lee and Neve said they were creative at home and wanted to learn something new, so printmaking seemed like a great outlet.
Instructor Ms Panday said she had been printmaking since primary school and taught art before moving into the literacy space.
"It allows me to show a different side of myself, as well as a different side to the library," she said.
The Launceston Library has been hosting adult learners workshops all week and each one has been hosted by a staff member.
"It was an opportunity for our staff members to share their skills," she said.
Ms Panday said the workshops had meant she had learned more about her colleagues and allowed her to share her skills with others.
"I want to plant a seed, so they think that printmaking might be another creative avenue for them," she said.
She said she focused the workshops on printmaking that did not require a lot of equipment, to make it as user-friendly as possible.
Ms Panday also has an exhibition of her works in progress on display at the library to showcase the process of printmaking.

She said she enjoyed finding alternative creative outlets.
