Spring is said to be about new beginnings, and here in Tasmania that is certainly true. After winter's hard, dark slumber, everything is slowly unfurling: the sky is gloriously blue, the days stretch ever longer and there's blossom bursting into high-definition colour everywhere you look.
Tasmania never looks better than at this time of the year when its many gardens erupt into a sea of frothy blooms. Garden lovers should head into the state's north west to catch some of the best gardens on full display, and on page 23 we give you a guide of where to go and what to see.
This is also a time when the state's calendar begins to fill up. In this edition we're taking a look at some of the best festivals and events, from the arts extravaganza Burnie Shines to the state's celebration of everything sparkling wine at Effervescence Tasmania.
Tasmania's much-loved Craft Fair, the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, also returns this November in a celebration of everything handmade.
November will also see the FIPS-Mouche World Fly Fishing Championships head to the state, bringing fishing lovers from all over the world to our rivers, lakes and streams. If you fancy dropping a line yourself, make sure you check out our guide to the best places to go on page 11.
Tasmania never looks better than at this time of year when its many gardens erupt into a sea of frothy blooms.
And in this edition we're excited to launch two new pages about our favourite Tassie road trips and camping spots, to let you in on even more local secrets.
Kicking off with an itinerary that takes you from Hobart and along the celebrated Convict Trail, and a guide to camping at the west coast's Trial Harbour, these pages hope to take you a little deeper when exploring Tasmania.
In this edition Maeve is also exploring the Tamar Valley, away from the vineyards that have made this region renowned. From distilleries to cute cafes, make sure you check out her guide to what to see in this part of the state.
As far as new beginnings go, no one does it better than Tasmania. No matter if you're here for a weekend or a longer adventure, enjoy exploring the many hidden corners dotted throughout this magnificent island.
