Marians recovered from last week's minor hiccup with a competitive 2-1 win over South Launceston, keeping their undefeated streak against the Suns intact.
The Suns held attacking play early with their defensive unit of Lynsey Shepherd-Blazley and Amy Dawber remaining solid for the Marians' push but their fortress was broken after the half-time whistle with Lillian Gates converting from a close-ranged penalty corner scramble to open the scoring.
It didn't take long for the leaders to add to their tally, waiting five minutes before Madison Clark and Brooke Grubb pushed City into attack, creating space for Charlotte Vandenberg, who passed off to Kira Johnston to seal the deal and put Marians 2-0 in front.

South Launceston responded by sending their big guns - Kira Budgeon and Nicole Symonds forward, with the former scoring in the final minute as they created chances but proved to be too little too late for victory.
Kiah Williams was again best-on for Marians, joined by Clark and Zayna Jackson in the votes as Suns trio Brigit Ikin, Georgie Daly and Maddie Alexander stood out.
Burnie Baptist secured their grand final spot less than two hours later with a hotly-contested 3-2 win over Queechy.
Set to face South Launceston on the big stage for the second consecutive season, the men in blue opened their tally positively with a Khan Riley drag flick finding the net as they patrolled the opening term.
Finn Bailey bit straight back for the Penguins, converting their sole penalty corner appearance in the dying minutes of the first to level things up.
Braden Johnson scored early the second as the intensity lifted with the score remaining at 2-1 at the main break.
The third term swung back and forth with neither team finding the back of the net before Penguins' best on ground Evan Lawrence evened things up with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Queechy's resurgent hearts were soon to be broken however as under-16 All-Australian Keenan Johnson broke through the airtight defences of Derrick Heathorn following a goal-mouth scramble.
Matt Selby was Baptist's best with Connor Poke and Keenan Johnson doing their job as Lawrence, Heathorn and Queechy Penguins' captain, Matthew Franklin, were strong in defeat.
