In a clash between two of the competition's most star-studded line-ups, the Demons enjoyed seven goals between Sonny Whiting and Thane Bardenhagen as Wil Lockhart and Logan Reynolds dominated through the middle.

Not even the stellar efforts of reigning David O'Keefe medallist Corey Bosworth and Shaun Cannon could keep the Swans in the hunt in the final quarter.

"We haven't played a game of footy for three weeks so it was going to be expected we'd be rusty, but I'm rapt with the intent and the effort," Demons coach Colin Lockhart said.

"In the last quarter with the breeze probably our class showed through, the class of our midfield and our half-back run from behind the footy.

"Thane Bardenhagen, Trent Griggs and Wil Lockhart were sensational today."

Heading into his first grand final as coach, Lockhart said his side was itching to take to the biggest stage and issued a "come and get us" challenge to the competition's remaining finalists.

"We believed we were the best side last year but due to injury and certain things that happened.. we're rapt to get through this year to the grand final," he said.

"And we won't just stand there and let anyone take it, we believe it's our grand final and we'll go out and get it."
