Taking a one-point lead into the half after both sides kicked five goals to one with the wind, the Parrots stifled Hillwood in the premiership quarter to trail by just three at the last change.

Another five goal to one quarter highlighted where the game was won and lost, and sent the Parrots through to a semi-final date with Longford.

"We knew we came in underdogs but we really relished the opportunity," Bridgenorth coach Brady Demeijer said.

'We had Nick McElwee and Nick Milbourne out - two of our better players - but that just added to the challenge.

"The boys came in knowing we'd win if we did the right things, and that showed in that we played some proper team footy and got the win."

Premiership favourites heading into the season, the Sharks had won both previous encounters between the two sides and were well-served by Zac Oldenhof and Jye Balym.

But the class and goal sense of Jake Nunn (five majors), who was well-supported by Rohan Sergeant (four), had the final word.

"He was the difference, he won all his contested footy," Demeijer said.

"Whenever he had one-on-one opportunities he won his, and Darren Long was excellent and Logan [Wright] as well was really good."

Hillwood will next meet the winner of Rocherlea and South Launceston.
