Brightside Sanctuary, based in Hobart, provides care for rescued animals, including greyhounds.
Fundraiser facilitator Rosie Seville said Brightside rehomes and rehabilitates 125 greyhounds per annum.
In other news:
"Not many people are aware of greyhounds and what beautiful pets they make," she said.
"They're [Brightside] in desperate need of funds because they get no funding whatsoever."
The event was supported by a number of local businesses, who donated items for a silent auction.
The event sold out with about 100 people attending, Ms Seville said it was great to see so much support for an important cause.
The community is raising funds for four local charities as part of The Examiner's Winter Relief Appeal. Can you help?
