The 17-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in a closed session at the Launceston Magistrates Court on Thursday.
One of the teens entered a not guilty plea and was remanded to appear in the Launceston Supreme Court on October 14.
The second teenager did not enter a plea and was remanded to reappear in the Magistrates Court in September 19.

Mowbray man Christopher Lee Brown has also been charged with murder.
The 33-year-old pleaded not guilty when appearing earlier this week.
Mr Brown was remanded to appear in the Supreme Court on October 14.
Nineteen-year-old Mr Waters was last seen alive on August 4, with his disappearance reported to police on August 11.
