Launceston's northern suburbs have been "forgotten for too long", mayor Albert van Zetten says.

However, a newly endorsed City of Launceston council plan is set to change that.
On Thursday, the council unanimously approved the My Place My Future report.
The plan highlights are six areas of focus including enterprise growth, employment and wage growth, celebration of community strengths, liveability strengthening the next generation, and access.

Nettie Burr, from Starting Point Neighbourhood House, said the plan was reflective of the community.
A letter was also read to the council on behalf of Northern Suburbs Community House manager Denise Delphin which thanked them, and other tiers of government, for listening.
Catherine Murdoch, from the Coordinator General's office, said they are looking forward to getting on with the job, and that the project would be fantastic for the community.
The next stage of the plan is to get more government funding.

Councillor Hugh McKenzie said other plans for the northern suburbs haven't always been successful, but this one "really nailed it".
However, he said there was still a lot of work left to do.
Councillor Andrea Dawkins said the northern suburbs were really important to the area because of its multiculturalism.
Cr van Zetten said the council, and the state and federal governments, were serious about helping the northern suburbs.
"It's something we have been fighting for for many years and will continue to do so," he said.
