GovHack is a competition that spans over a weekend, where competitors are tasked with using an open data set from government resources at various levels and using it to answer a question through a presentation.
Govhack state director Damian Frappell said the competition is open to all ages and levels of programming experience.
"As long as it's creative, and as long as you've used an open data set as inspiration, you can enter," he said.
"You don't have to all be hardcore coders, a mixed team usually does really well."
