As the state's largest egg producer, Pure Foods future-proofed operations with its own feed mill, distribution business and running a farm waste joint venture.

Managing director Danny Jones said a number of strategies would help Pure Foods thrive in a volatile industry.
"The largest shift we have made is through centralising our farm and investing in supporting businesses," Mr Jones said.
"Owning and operating an integrated business allows us to purchase local products, such as $2 million dollars in wheat each year which are located just a short distance from our mill."
The EPA Sustainability Award recognises businesses delivering cleaner production initiatives with measurable improvements.
Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards are presented in November.
