It is now a dream that could become a reality for the North's leading female cricketers thanks to the Hobart Hurricanes female Northern rookie program.

For the third year in a row, the Hurricanes are offering a chance to follow in the footsteps of Riverside cricketing alumni Emma Manix-Geeves (New Town) and Sophie Parkin (UTAS) and live alongside the playing list.

"It's a great opportunity," head coach Salliann Briggs said. "It allows that selected player to spend time in our environment, not only do they see what it takes to become a contracted player from a training point of view, they also come and be with us on match day," she said.

"They'll be in and around the changerooms and dugouts so they get both views of the player in the moment and high pressure situations but also all the training and preparation that goes into that."

With 2017's Northern rookie Emma Manix-Geeves on the Tasmanian Tigers' list for the upcoming season, Briggs is hopeful the experience can boost both Parkin and this year's selected applicant in the right direction.

"Hopefully the experience has allowed them to have a re-think about how much they want to be a professional cricketer and inspired them to what to carry on.

"Feedback from people like Sophie and the impact it had on her game and her overall desire to want to be a professional cricketer was overwhelming.

"We've just got to make sure she's got all the right opportunities to continue."

The trials will be run by Briggs at the NTCA indoor centre on September 7 with all clubs from Cricket North and North-West encouraged to nominate players.
