Of the 17 categories a near majority were awarded to North and North-West based builders. More than 110 entries were submitted.
Adam Gelston, from Fairbrother Construction, was awarded State Apprentice of the Year after he had the "slight edge" over other apprentices, the judges said.
"From early on in Adam's apprenticeship he was identified as an enthusiastic and bright young apprentice with the potential to be a very good tradesman," they said.
"He is very confident, experienced and has been exposed to many different types of construction during his apprenticeship."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Matthew Barwick, the owner of Barwick Developments, was named Young Builder of the Year for his "do it once, do it right" attitude, which "set him apart".
"One initiative that impressed the judges was that Matthew employed an apprentice shortly after starting his own company and trained him how he wished his company to be recognised. Ten years later he is still a very valued employee," the judges said.
"Finally, Matthew's overall professional business undertaking, his high level of workmanship and his passion for the industry is a credit to him."
Matthew Bates, from Faulker Building, was awarded Hands on Skills Apprentice of the Year.
Builders from the North-West took home the big awards, with Residential Builder of the Year going to AJR Construction.
Fairbrother Construction won Commercial Builder of the Year and Specialist Contractor of the Year.
The awards were held in Hobart on Saturday night.
The community is raising funds for four local charities as part of The Examiner's Winter Relief Appeal. Can you help?
