As part of the Launceston City Deal, the council has developed the My Place My Future strategy.
It outlines six different priorities for the northern suburbs, which is made up of Newnham, Ravenswood, Mowbray, Invermay, Mayfield, Waverley and Rocherlea.
The strategy aims to make it easier for the northern suburbs to access employment opportunities, connect with their community, access Launceston's vibrant culture, access healthier lifestyles, education engagement, and access support infrastructure.
Success will be measured by better engagement and feeling like they're part of a community, and increasing the number events held in the area, including cultural events, along with a decrease in the number of avoidable hospital presentations and increased school participation rates.
Just 9 per cent of the northern suburbs have a university qualification.
The median age is 34, and the area has an unemployment rate of about 13.6 per cent.
All of the suburbs also have a higher number of indigenous people.
