In the same week he was praised by coach Lino Sciulli for a starring performance down back, Launceston City talent Jarrod Linger will put his best foot forward in China.
Selected as one of two Tasmanians in the 12-man Australian futsal team, Linger will fly out for Jiangmen early Saturday morning ahead of Wednesday's tournament opener against Mexico.
The 19-year-old has already won an International Futsal Alliance world cup with Australia's under-17s in 2016 and is pumped to add another tournament to his growing resume.

"I'm really excited to go - I couldn't be any happier, I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"We've had two training camps, both of them have been in Newcastle, they've been over Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday morning and we would have done about 10 to 12 hours of training."
Now into his fourth season with City's seniors, Linger has netted four goals from 17 appearances this season including a brace against Glenorchy in round 6.
Despite being set to play up top for Australia at the world cup, Linger has spent the past few weeks playing as a sweeper in the NPL, helping City to two wins, two losses and a draw from their past five matches.

"I've been going alright, I've been enjoying it as well," Linger said.
"I've been playing around a lot of different positions so that keeps me thinking and keeps me on the ball which is really good.
"Teamwise we haven't been going too bad recently, I think we're seventh at the moment but only two points off fifth spot.
"We've got a fairly young squad - our average age usually is about 22 so it's pretty insane but I enjoy it so that's the main thing."
Linger, who is the state's Northern development officer, runs a Monday futsal academy in school terms, and is starting up junior and men's competitions in September.
Devonport goalkeeper Bardia Solati is the other Tasmanian in the squad.
