Neill-Fraser is currently serving a 23-year jail sentence having been found guilty by a jury of murdering her partner Bob Chappell.

Mr Chappell was last seen on the couple's yacht in Sandy Bay, near Hobart, on Australia Day 2009.

Neill-Fraser maintains her innocence and has many supporters who believe she was wrongly imprisoned.

Three vigils were held across Hobart on Friday, with another vigil to be held on Parliament Lawns on Saturday.

Vigils will also be held in Port Melbourne and Alice Springs on August 20.

Under new state legislation introduced in 2015, Neill-Fraser successfully bid to gain a second Supreme Court appeal against her conviction.

A date for the second appeal is yet to be set in the Court of Criminal Appeal.

Susan Neill-Fraser Support Group secretary Rosie Crumpton-Crook said while the group was really pleased Neill-Fraser has been granted the right to a further appeal, they are concerned about how long it is going to take.

"It took three years from when she applied for further appeal to actually be granted it," Ms Crumpton-Crook said.

"We have all become involved in Sue's case because there are so many issues with it.

"We have to wonder how much longer this woman has to stay in prison until these matters are addressed."
