The owners have told the state government "this is not over", arguing in a joint statement it's "extremely egregious" they face the choice of bankruptcy or massive debt through no fault of their own.

The owners invited Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Better Regulation Minister Kevin Anderson and new building commissioner David Chandler to attend an upcoming extraordinary general meeting when they'll vote on whether to raise $10 million for the first stage of reparative works.

"This EGM is significant not just for us Mascot Towers homeowners, but for homeowners in NSW," they said on Wednesday.

"That homeowners like us have to personally shoulder such a massive financial burden, with more to come down the road, sets a very dangerous precedent in NSW, if not Australia itself."

Residents of the complex's 132 apartments have been forced to stay elsewhere since the building was evacuated in mid-June due to cracking in the primary support structure and facade.

The owners want those responsible to be held to account and "rightfully pay to fix the very defects to correct this wrong".

"We ask that immediate and retroactive protections be put in place for honest, hardworking Australian homeowners," they said.

Mr Anderson's spokesman said the better regulation minister would respond to the owners' invitation before the meeting.

The building commissioner will also be given an on-site briefing on the issues at Mascot Towers.
