The offer will see public sector workers receive a 2.1 per cent wage increase from the date the previous agreement expired, a 0.25 per cent bonus when the deal is signed and new employees will be eligible for a one off sign up bonus up to $120.

The Australian Education Union announced its support of the deal on Thursday, with 84 per cent of members voting in favour of the agreement.

The United Firefighters Union is yet to finalise its members' vote on the offer with a ballot deadline of 5pm on Sunday.

Health and Community Services Union secretary Tim Jacobson said industrial action was off the table for now.

"We have taken the government on its word [that] the government views this deal as a reset," Mr Jacobson said.

"We are looking at moving towards finalising it and getting it into the Industrial Commission so we can get a wage increase into our members' pockets as soon as possible.

"But no one would suggest for a moment that where we have been is an acceptable process.

"Our members are less than happy with the negotiations that have taken place up until this point and they will be keeping a close eye on what happens over the coming few months."

Mr Jacobson said the next step was to negotiate a deal which includes conditions.

"All of the unions have a raft of condition matters that are still live, that are still sitting on the table, and those are the matters that we want to negotiate now," he said.

"We want proper wage increases that keep up with the cost of living and make sure we are able to attract and retain the best possible staff in the Tasmanian public sector."

The government has set a deadline for the end of November to negotiate a two or three year agreement to follow the interim deal otherwise the matter would be referred to the Industrial Commission.

"We are hopeful we are able to reach an agreement," Mr Jacobson said.

Community and Public Sector Union secretary Tom Lynch said members were looking for a change in the government's attitude going forward in the negotiations.

"CPSU members have strongly supported the agreement but they are not happy about the 12 months it has taken to get to this point," Mr Lynch said.

"The reason our members have supported the agreement is because it represents a scrapping of the government's wage cap once and for all.

"It delivers wage increases close to the cost of living without any trade-offs."
