Mona Foma, Tourism Northern Tasmania, and Cityprom will host an industry engagement session to prepare businesses for the visitor influx expected during next year's festival.

Tourism Northern Tasmania chief executive Chris Griffin encouraged the region's business owners to get involved.

"Mona Foma presents an incredible opportunity for our local industries and businesses," he said.

"With increased visitation comes greater awareness, revenue, growth and profitability. It's a huge stimulus for the city and Northern Tasmania as a whole, and I would urge local business owners to come along and discover how they can best benefit."

The session will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about how best to leverage the economic, social, and cultural growth generated by the festival, and how to capitalise on increased trading and visitation.

In 2019, more than 46,000 people attended the festival, with 35.5 per cent of attendees travelling from interstate and 35 per cent travelling up from the state's south. Interstate and overseas visitors spent an average of 6.4 nights in Tasmania across the festival's dates.

The 2020 Mona Foma program will be released in October.
