Defence lawyer Lucy Flanagan said Brown's offending was linked to her use of illicit substances.
The death of Brown's former partner was a very difficult period in her life and she turned to drugs to deal with it, the court heard.
During sentencing, Magistrate Ken Stanton said the offending required a significant term of imprisonment because it was broad and persistent, but Brown's early guilty plea indicated remorse and prevented the need for a lengthy hearing.
Brown was sentenced to nine months' jail, backdated to June 10. The sentence will be suspended from August 19 and she is booked to attend Serenity House from August 20, the court heard.
She was disqualified from driving for three years and was ordered to complete 84 hours community service within 18 months after her release.
Brown was ordered to pay court cost of $2400.
