Natika Tedeschi and Jarrod Walker met through a mutual friend, their relationship flourished and it wasn't long before Jarrod was preparing to pop the question.

After fours years, Natika was blissfully unaware of Jarrod's plans, to the point where she foiled his surprise of a romantic proposal on two occasions.

"It was a complete surprise," Natika said.

"I had no idea that he had been trying to propose to me for a while by planning a picnic at the park and both times he planned it I had invited friends to join us," Natika said.

Finally, after two attempts Jarrod gave up and proposed at home, no extravaganza or plans.

Natika said it was a perfect surprise.

The couple had a three-year engagement as they mulled over plans, saved and took the time to make sure they were including everything and everyone that was important to them.

"We were originally going to get married overseas, but I changed my mind," Natika said.

"It was really important to me to have my opa [pop] there and to have my dad walk me down the aisle.

When it came time to start planning, Natika and Jarrod knew exactly what they wanted, a relaxed party with friends that didn't blow the budget.

Their ceremony and reception were at their favourite local hotspot, Velo Wines and Timbre and was the perfect place for the two to tie the knot.

"We wanted a low-key wedding, nothing too formal where we could have a party with all our family and friends," Natika said.

"We live in Riverside and go to Timbre and Velo Wines quite a bit so that was an easy choice for us.

"On the day everything was perfect, the setting in the vines made for some amazing photos, the food was fantastic and we had the best party."

The party started early for the bridal party, with the champagne flowing as they prepped for the big day.

"The morning of the wedding was great, we got ready at my aunt's house, she made us breakfast and made sure there was plenty of champagne," Natika said.

"It was such a relaxing and fun morning with all the girls, it was so important for me that my bridesmaids all looked gorgeous and had heaps of fun too."

The wedding was everything that Natika and Jarrod wanted, stylish, low-key and most importantly, on budget.

"We didn't want to spend thousands on the day,' Natika said.

"I think it is important that you take any help you can when it comes to planning a wedding because the costs soon mount up.

"I had heaps of help, bought things second-hand or borrowed from friends.

"You can get caught up in the little details, but everyone is there to celebrate with you and the most important thing to have is fun."
