Meeting ACT in the bottom-four semi-finals on Thursday, Tasmania overturned a 22-17 loss just days earlier to qualify for the fifth-place playoff game with a thrilling 22-20 win.
Ashlea Turner and Jessica Scott's side trailed 8-4 at the first change but gradually reined in the lead to trail by just one at the final change.
With Gee Tees goal attack Hannah Crawford sinking a game-high nine goals, Tasmania finally hit the lead in the last term before securing the narrowest of wins.
Western Australia went into Friday's fifth-place playoff as strong favourites having won 31-17 when the two sides met on day one.
But Tasmania came out firing to lead 8-7 at the first change with Turner (12 goals) on fire in the goal circle.
The favourites then hit back with a 9-1 second quarter to take the sting out of the game before running out 33-18 winners.
Launceston's Olive Morris came on as shooter in the last term and finished with two goals.
