The Department of State Growth released its plans to upgrade two Goderich Street intersections - at Gleadow and Forster streets - and improve traffic flow, inviting community questions and feedback on the designs.

Both intersection upgrades were identified as priorities in City of Launceston's Invermay Traffic Master Plan and will form part of the council's broader traffic works.

They also address Invermay's congestion issues, which were outlined in the state government's Launceston and Tamar Valley Traffic Vision, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Michael Ferguson said.

"The upgrades are designed to improve traffic flow while providing continued access for cyclists and pedestrians," Mr Ferguson said.

Under the department's plan, the upgraded Goderich and Gleadow street intersection will allow both left and right turns, and traffic signals synchronised to improve flow for through traffic.

The Goderich and Forster street intersection design includes an additional right turn lane onto Forster Street, and construction of a second eastbound lane on Forster Street to Invermay Road.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2020.

The Department of State Growth information session will be held from 4.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 24, at The Tramsheds Function Centre, Inveresk.
