A week after achieving the benchmark in the 1500-metres at the Diamond League meet in Monaco, the Launceston-born 24-year-old crossed the English Channel to double up in his more familiar distance of 5000m.
His performance came in the Diamond League meeting in London where he finished just outside his personal best to place fourth in 13:05.63.

Ethiopian Hagos Gebrhiwet won the race in 13.01:86 with McSweyn leading home compatriots Patrick Tiernan (eighth in 13.12:68) and Morgan McDonald (ninth, 13.18:91).
A week earlier McSweyn's time of 3:31.81 established him as the second fastest Australian ever over 1500m behind only his Melbourne Track Club training partner Ryan Gregson (3:31.06). It was also a new Tasmanian record and the ninth fastest time in the world this year.
He has now recorded qualifying times for both distances for this year's world athletics championships in Doha and next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.
McSweyn ran the 5000 and 10,000 at last year's Commonwealth Games.
