Shooting for their fifth win of the year, the Tornadoes were boosted by the long-awaited return of US import Brittany Hodges but were always going to be up against it meeting a Waverley side playing for a finals berth.
Led by Carley Ernst (21 points and nine rebounds) and Renae Mokrzycki (19 points and nine rebounds), the Falcons took a five-point lead into the first change and broke the game open with a 30-13 second quarter.
From there the two teams played out time, with the Tornadoes winning the final term by five points.
In a game where all six Tornadoes bench players were called upon, Simpson shot 3-5 from three-point range and collected two steals to provide a handy foil for captain Stephanie Gardner (19 points).
Hodges nabbed 10 rebounds and seven points from 25 minutes on court, while veteran Cassie Jordan (13 points) didn't miss a shot during a season-high 24 minutes of game time.
The Tornadoes finished the season one game clear of last-placed Diamond Valley.
