Launceston United leapfrogged Devonport into second with a 2-1 win at Birch Avenue.
Chris Pickering was back in the goals, opening the scoring with a cracker from near the halfway line and after Devonport equalised Will Rodman bagged the winner.
"One of the more pleasing wins of the year," beamed United coach Glenn Reading.
"When we really needed to we showed real determination and because of that, walked away with the points."
Riverside's roller-coaster campaign was summed up by conceding the only goal of the game in the 90th minute to sit on seven wins and seven losses.
Substitute Bryton Rush had only just come on when he headed in from a corner to give Somerset the points at Windsor Park.
"We fought hard but it's a disappointing result," said gutted Olympic coach Andy Hall.
"We've been knocking on the door but we just can't put a whole match together."
Launceston City scored through Nick Richardson and an own goal but went down 8-2 at Burnie United.
