"This is up 22 per cent on the previous year which is a tremendous result for the MyGolf program and young golfers around the state," Tasmania development manager Simon Weston said.
"We have also been encouraged by the fact that 40 schools statewide have offered MyGolf to their students in 2018-19 - representing more 6000 children experiencing golf, many for the first time."
Launceston, Mowbray, Prospect Vale, Riverside and Scottsdale golf clubs all offer the program, which is aimed at introducing the sport to five to 12-year-olds.
The program is run over a 10-week period.
