Nanette was filmed during a live performance at the Sydney Opera house. The groundbreaking performance was released by Netflix in 2018.
The nominations come after many major award wins for the Tasmanian, including winning an AACTA , Best Comedy at the 2017 Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Barry Award for outstanding comedy act at the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Best Comedy Performer at the 2017 Helpmann Awards, and Best Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
Gadsby grew up at Smithton in the state's North-West.
Her new comedy special, Douglas, will be released globally on Netflix in 2020.
The 71st Emmy Awards will take place in September.
