'Till It Ends' and 'Let There Be Cowgirls', both tracks on his smash latest album Backroad Nation, were written in Launceston.
Kernaghan was in town in December to play at the inaugural Summer Moon country music festival at Josef Chromy vineyard.
While he was here, he said, he got to songwriting with fellow country star, and close friend, Nick Wolfe - and the two new songs were born.
"Every new song is like giving birth to a baby, so those two babies are Tasmanian," Kernaghan laughed.
'Till It Ends' is an infectious party bop shared between Kernaghan, and nation-conquering Tasmanian trio the Wolfe Brothers.
Both acts will be able to perform it in Launceston: the brothers will join Kernaghan as supports at the show, along with Country Music Channel female artist of the year, Christie Lamb.
The Wolfe Brothers, who went from supporting Kernaghan on tour six years ago to winning four Golden Guitars this year, are like family, he said.
"They are the best bunch of blokes that I've ever had the opportunity to make music with," he said.
"They're just incredibly talented individuals: singing, songwriters, musicians, and it was just awesome to see it rain golden guitars for them in Tamworth this year.
"There's nothing like winning a golden guitar: it can change your life, it can change your career trajectory.
"They started off supporting me - it'll probably end up the other way around," he laughed.
The Backroad Nation tour is like nothing else Kernaghan has done, he said, with show-stopping visuals and a whole bunch of new tracks that he hasn't performed live before.
It's "high-octane country," he promised.
"Brodie [Rainbird] from the Wolfe Brothers said, you know, we've been doing gigs together for about six years, and this is the most fun I've had on any tour," he said.
"And that's saying a lot, coming from Brodie, because he knows how to have fun.
"It''s a massive production, this one, and there's been an unbelievably great reaction from people so far."
Backroad Nation, released in May, is Kernaghan's fifteenth studio album.
It went to number three on the ARIA main chart; and number one on the ARIA digital album chart, Australian artist chart, country chart, and Australian country chart.
