The St Marys Community Space was approved at the Break O'Day Council's meeting on Monday.
Councillor Kylie Wright said the park was a great project for the area with a lot of community support behind it.
The space will include a skate park, bike track, play area, outdoor gym equipment, barbecue shelter, and picnic area.
Following a lengthy discussion by councillors, it was decided to add a section of advice asking that the proponents discuss the possibility of building a fence or screen between the park and the neighbouring property.
The idea was raised by councillor Margaret Osborne in an effort to mitigate the amount of noise impacting residents. It would also set the boundary.
The council also voted to undertake a report into whether the space could receive funding as part of the Drought Communities Programme.
