The Demons led at all four breaks and held off a late charge from the inaccurate Penguin to secure the 10.11 (71) to 8.12 (60) win at the Latrobe Recreation Ground
Developing defender Blake Weeks was named as the Demons' best in the win, while Jayden Last, Gavin Woodcock and Matthew Sheehan (two goals) were handy contributors.
Two Blues midfield workhorse Sam Mawer was their best, Nathan Russell and Jake DeGroot kicked two goals each, but coach Chris McDonald suffered a potential season-ending knee injury.

Zane Murphy, Zac Smith and Sam Gleeson were the Cats' best, while Gregg Sharman and Kallum Kubicki kicked four goals each.
Beau Sharman kept the Magpies in the game, with Keegan Lowe, Ryan Kelly and Sharman kicking two goals each.
