Everything from luxury tourist accommodation, an innovative health centre and a creative Japanese restaurant fit-out were recognised at the Australian Institute of Architects' 2019 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.
Held on Saturday night at Hobart's Odeon Theatre, 17 awards and commendations were handed out.

Launceston-based firm Philip M Dingemanse took out two awards for its mountain-bike rider accommodation, Dales of Derby.
This included the Barry McNeill award for sustainable architecture, along with a Commercial Architecture award.
Cumulus Studio, also based in Launceston, were awarded the Alexander North award for interior architecture for their Japanese restaurant fit-out of Kosaten Launceston, as well as a commendation for small project architecture for the TasPorts Cruise Ship Shelter.
Awards jury chair Neal Mackintosh said the 2019 entrants and winners reflected the quality that Tasmanian architects bring to their craft - whatever the size and scope of the project.
"As usual, a high level of inventiveness is evident, with Tasmanian architects stretching lean budgets to produce spatially rich and engaging buildings," he said.

Being a health reporter to me is about more than just reporting the problems. It's about asking why they are happening in the first place and what needs to change to fix it.
