Premiership teammates in 2014, 2017 and 2018 with Whitford having also played in the 2015 triumph, the pair have formed a lethal midfield combination in recent years and together took home the TSL's two major individual accolades last year.

"Josh is one of my really good mates," Whitford said.

"He came to my wedding in February and I've played basically all of my footy with Josh probably bar a couple of years.

"We know what we're going to get from Josh every week, he's consistent in his performance.

"He rarely plays a bad game and it's probably goes to show where his game's at at the moment, his ability to win the footy on the inside of the contest is one of the best in the competition really.

"It probably took him two or three seasons to really start preparing his body to the best of his ability, and he's getting the rewards now with a fantastic season last year and he's backing up really well again."

Ponting, who turns 25 later this year, will mark his milestone game in a 1.30pm UTAS Stadium clash with Glenorchy on Saturday.

"It's fantastic for him, he's a Northern suburbs boy," Whitford said.

"He played at Rocherlea before coming down to North and he's turned from a classy half-forward into an Alastair Lynch medallist in 100 games, it's a great effort."
