The first one out of the remote central Asian nation to make it into the UFC - the world's premier mixed martial arts promotion - did not even occur until late 2016.
But Legion 10 main event contender Bekhzod Usmonov is looking to change that notion at next Saturday's fight night in Launceston.
The tough featherweight fighter, now based out of Melbourne, will walk into the Elphin Sports Centre cage very much public enemy.
Home support will side with Launceston's Shaun Etchell in the 62kg class bout.
Etchell, nicknamed the Buzzsaw, is a one-time national MMA titleholder and has fought both professional boxing and kickboxing.
"This I have to say is a highly athletic and exciting match-up," he said.
"We've had three or four Australian champions here, a couple of English fighters who are now contending for world titles, but he's certainly high up there and will be a challenge. He's very experienced and had over 30 Muay Thai fights."
On the packed fight card, Cressy brawler Casey Lockhart taking on Sydneysider Tully Brown in a 86kg Muay Thai bout will also create great interest.
Lockhart started his fight career in amateur boxing before turning to kickboxing.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.legionfightsports.com.au or Legion Fightsports facebook page.
