Keeper of the cup, Joe McGrath, said the tour was about sharing the 158-year history of the Melbourne Cup with everyone across Australia.
"There's an appetite and there's a passion for it from a lot of people across the land," Mr McGrath said.

One of the horses paraded during the tour was Needs Further, sired by Tassie racing supreme Mystic Journey.
"He [Needs Further] is one of the most up and coming, promising horses in racing in Australia," Mr McGrath said.
The tour will visit locations across Tasmania until July 6 before heading to Melbourne and Western Australia. The cup will also visit 39 destinations before being presented at Flemington in November.
