Bright earmuffs, scarves and jackets were not out of place at Trevallyn Primary School as pupils and staff dug deep to support The Examiner's Winter Relief Appeal.

A free dress day with a winter warmer theme was held on Thursday at the school, with a gold coin donation for each person donated to the appeal.
The fundraiser was organised by the student representative council and grade 5 representatives Noah Hedger and Addison Brumby said they were happy with the turn out.

"We chose Winter Relief [Appeal] because there are a lot of people out there who don't have food, or jumpers or a warm blanket," Miss Brumby said.
Mr Hedger said they thought Winter Relief Appeal would help spread the money they raised because it supports more than one charity. The day raised about $400 for the appeal.
Trevallyn Primary School teacher Anita Price said all the pupils had embraced the day because of the chilly weather. She said the school often supported outside charities and had done fundraising for The Examiner's Empty Stocking Appeal in the past.
